When Star-Batt set out to launch Star-Batt Plus, its newest integrated power-and-protection solution built specifically for Starlink Mini, the company needed an enclosure as rugged as their customers. Star-Batt Plus was created to give professionals the ability to deploy high-speed Starlink connectivity in the most demanding environments on earth.
To bring Star-Batt Plus to market, Star-Batt selected the Pelican™ 1450 Protector Case, a platform chosen for its reputation as one of the most rugged protective cases available, and a fit for a fully enclosed, field-ready operating system.
The Challenge
Star-Batt's products transform Starlink Mini into a truly portable, deployable connectivity solution by combining power and protection in a single unit. But as Star-Batt expanded into professional, government, and military use cases, two limitations became impossible to ignore:
● Not FAA compliant, restricting commercial air travel with the system
● No Ethernet passthrough, limiting secure or hardwired networking options
Star-Batt Plus was designed to directly address both—without sacrificing the all-in-one, rugged deployment model users rely on.
The Solution
Star-Batt engineered Star-Batt Plus around three defining upgrades.
1) FAA-compliant modular power system (Star-Batt Plus)
Star-Batt Plus uses six removable, hot-swappable 96Wh batteries, enabling airline travel because each pack stays below the 100Wh threshold and can be treated as removable spare batteries under FAA/DOT rules.
2) RJ45 Ethernet passthrough (Star-Batt Plus)
An external RJ45 Ethernet pass-through enables connection to third-party routers and encrypted communications systems, supporting secure, hardwired networking without breaking the deployment flow.
3) Upgraded enclosure: Pelican™ 1450 Protector Case
Star-Batt Plus is housed in a Pelican 1450 Case, making the enclosure a foundational component of the product's ruggedization that supports harsh environments and fully enclosed operation.
